PAUL & JOE is named after store creator Sophie ALBOU’s two sons.

After graduating from the French Fashion Institute, she went on to join the team at Azzédine ALAIA, where she developed her talent and her generous style. After this first successful working experience, she became a stylist for Le Garage shirts and after six years decided to create her own brand.

In 1995 she launched her first Menswear collection, contrasting strongly with men’s fashion around at the time; young, fresh, retro and colourful. This was a resounding success; her first customers adored the collections, spurring her on to create a womenswear collection, which she did a year later. This collection was made up of shirts and trousers to begin with, but rapidly evolved, bearing more and more of the hallmarks of her unique style: fresh, highly colourful, with flamboyant prints and very feminine fabrics.

The Paul & Joe woman resembles its creator, active, bubbly; she loves to travel and loves the luxury of being able to mix and match her own wardrobe, and to accessorize it according to her moods or her timetable. She is a resolute anti-conformist.

Sophie is now developing a specific universe in all her boutiques, bringing back her unique and original finds from the far flung corners of the world, giving each of her stores its own very special charm.

The womenswear boutique in rue des Saints Pères opened its doors in September 2001 and is today the finest example of this. Almost simultaneously, she opened a boutique in rue du Four dedicated exclusively to Menswear.

Now celebrating its 10th year, Paul & Joe has never stopped changing. The brand has over thirty boutiques throughout the world, from Paris to London via Séoul and Jakarta. Paul & Joe is also distributed in the most prestigious multi-brand department stores in the world: Barney’s, Harvey Nichols, Isetan, Le Printemps, Harrod’s….to name but a few.

Among Sophie Albou’s numerous projects is the Paul&Joe beauty range that is reaching new heights. The line was launched in 2001 in Takashimaya in Tokyo, Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Harvey Nichols in London and on the new beauty counter in Printemps de la Mode in Paris. As an extension to her prêt-à-porter fashion collections, the designer is now launching a new range of lingerie: camisoles and silk and lace boxer shorts that change to suit the seasons.

In February 2005 Paul & Joe gave birth to Little Paul&Joe with a range designed for 4-12 year olds, based on the best sellers in the main range.

A range of jewellery including 18-carat gold bracelets, necklaces and earrings has been available in Paul & Joe stores since summer 2006. The opening of the womenswear boutique in 2 avenue Montaigne in March 2006 marks a change in direction in the Paul & Joe world, the unique and elegant decoration of this store sets the tone for the beautiful collections that inhabit it, and it offers a designer range of formalwear of the finest fabrics and cuts.

The launch of the first Croisière (Cruise) range for summer 2007 is also on course for success.

The Menswear boutique which is now located at 64/66 rue des saints pères has also evolved, now offering a full range of high quality footwear and a playful range of silver jewellery. Paul & Joe has enjoyed such resounding success because of the mutual recognition of the quality and creativity produced by this fashion house.

The Paul & Joe press offices in Paris, London, New York, Hamburg and Tokyo as well as Menswear fashion shows in Paris, are also key in spreading the Paul & Joe message.
